Prof John Finch

John undertakes research in business-to-business marketing, with an emphasis on the marketing of science and technology products and services, and the shaping of industrial markets across an array of market professional, to include producers, buyers, intermediaries and regulators. He is completing a three-year project funded by the Leverhulme Trust with Susi Geiger (University College Dublin) into the marketing of industrial chemistry services, as applied in the offshore oil and gas industry to support exploration and production. The aim of the project is to examine how many organizations act, both collaboratively and in contest, to sort out the goods from the bads in production chemistry as it is applied in a marine setting. Chemicals are in compliance with OSPAR and REACH regulation processes, providing an incentive to undertake incremental product and service innovation and to examine the effectiveness of regulatory regimes drawing on precaution and on risk in marine settings. John has also undertaken applied research and consultancy in waste management services involving the water industry in Scotland.
